Job and Demographic Factors Affecting Job Satisfaction of Care Workers for the Elderly

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of job factors and demographical factors on job satisfaction of care workers who are working in elderly care facilities. has been implemented for a short period of time. According to the results of the multiple regression analysis that examined the effects of job factors and demographical factors on job satisfaction of care workers for the elderly, education and monthly income among demographical factors have significant effects on job satisfaction of care workers for the elderly. The higher educational level have a negative effect on their job satisfaction, and that higher monthly income have a positive effect on them. Their positive perception of the pay system, the welfare environment of workplace, and the job expertise among job factors have positive significant effects2) on their job satisfaction. In order to raise the level of job satisfaction that is a preliminary task for improving job performance of care workers for the elderly, this study proposes ways to establish the reasonable benefits system, to set up a job educational system that can supplement their job expertise, and to improve the welfare environment of workplace in relation to the current job where the care workers for the elderly are working.
